Meet the Doctors

Drs. Jennifer Perone, Priya Zeikus and Sarah Weitzul specialize in the surgical treatment of skin cancer. The practice is dedicated to compassionate care by fellowship-trained Mohs surgeons with over 20 years of combined experience in Mohs micrographic surgery, excisional surgery, and reconstruction.

Priya Zeikus, MD, FAADDr. Jennifer Perone is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the American Academy of Dermatology. From 2006 to 2009, she was on faculty at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she has served as both Director of Dermatologic Surgery at Parkland Hospital and Director of Dermatologic Surgery at the Dallas VA Medical Center.

Dr. Perone graduated cum laude from Princeton University, and received her M.D. from New York University School of Medicine; she completed an internship in internal medicine at Columbia University’s St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital and residency training in dermatology at Duke University Medical Center. Her fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Surgery was performed at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Named one of D Magazine’s Best Doctors of 2010, Dr. Perone participates yearly in multiple skin cancer screenings offered free to the public. In her faculty position at UTSW, she has trained fellows, residents, and medical students in dermatology, Mohs surgery, and cosmetic dermatology. She is the author of several articles and textbook chapters, and has lectured at national dermatology meetings. Dr. Perone is well respected by physicians in other disciplines, as demonstrated by her recent publication of a lead article in Seminars in Plastic Surgery.

Priya Zeikus, MD, FAAD

Priya Zeikus, MD, FAADPriya Zeikus, M.D, FAAD is a board certified dermatologist with fellowship training in Mohs surgery and the treatment of skin cancer. She has performed over two thousand cases in Mohs Surgery, and is a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr Zeikus contributes actively to the field of dermatology and is the author of numerous textbook chapters and scientific publications. She is a member of the dermatology faculty at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and teaches residents regularly at the dermatologic surgery clinic at the VA Medical Center in Dallas. She lectures regularly at several national dermatologic meetings and serves on several national committees. She was elected to serve as representative of the Young Physicians Committee for the American Academy of Dermatology, a group of over 10,000 dermatologists nationwide. She is a member of the Public Service Committee of the American Society of the Dermatologic Surgery and also serves on the Surgical Committee of the Women’s Dermatological Society.

Dr. Zeikus has received awards for her outstanding academic achievement and research. She is a graduate of the Hockaday School for girls in Dallas. She received her bachelor’s degree with honors from Johns Hopkins University and received her M.D. from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She completed her internship at Harvard medical School and her dermatology training at Brown University. Her fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery was also completed at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Zeikus is active in the Dallas Community and is a member of the Dallas Dermatologic Society. She participates in local community sponsored events and free skin cancer screenings.

Dr. Weitzul has served as President and Vice President of the Dallas Dermatologic Society, as Medical Director for several community skin cancer screenings, and as chair of several committees in national dermatology organizations. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Women’s Dermatologic Society.

She graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University and received her medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she also did a residency in dermatology and fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Surgery. Her internship in internal medicine was performed at Baylor University Medical Center. During her fellowship, she received the prestigious Theodore Tromovitch Award, a national award given annually by the American College of Mohs Surgery for outstanding research in the field of Surgical Dermatology.

Dr. Weitzul was on the full-time faculty at UT Southwestern Medical Center from 2002 to 2009 where she was Director of the Clinical Center for Cosmetic Dermatology. Dr. Weitzul was awarded the “Excellence in Teaching Award” in 2008. She remains on the clinical faculty of UT Southwestern and teaches residents regularly in the skin surgery clinic of the Dallas VA Medical Center.
